At Droitwich Spa Dental Aesthetics & Implant Centre, we pride ourselves on our periodontal treatment range, as we know just how paramount gum health and hygiene are for our patients.

Periodontics is the area of dentistry related to the gums. Gum health is of great importance to the patient, not only for their overall oral well-being but for their overall health too – it has been linked to diabetes and heart disease, as well as, of course, being paramount when it comes to healthy teeth and a happy smile.

On top of our everyday periodontics treatments, at Droitwich Spa Dental Aesthetics & Implant Centre, we’re also able to provide surgical regenerative periodontal treatments. Dr Chadha trained as a periodontist in India and continues to regularly update his knowledge and skills in this field. He has a specialist interest in periodontics and implant surgery and is able to perform periodontal plastic surgery among other periodontic treatments.

Periodontal regeneration

Periodontal disease can cause loss of bone in the jaw area, including ‘gutters’ of bone loss which run vertically. In such cases, Dr Chadha may be able to help regenerate lost bone through bone grafting, and/or the placement of membranes, or using Emdogain gel.

Periodontal plastic surgery

Periodontal plastic surgery can be used to treat gingival recession and is designed to restore gum tissue where it has been depleted or lost. One way of doing this is by removing mucosa – the skin covering the palate – from the roof of the mouth, and using it as a gum graft in the area of the mouth where gum is deficient or lost. This is known as a free gingival graft. We can also use connective tissue, which is deeper tissue, from the palate. Connective tissue grafts, as their known, are most useful in cases where aesthetics are being taken into consideration, and can be used very effectively in conjunction with moving adjacent healthy gum over the recession.
